  • This book is based on the theoretical research and practical application of the National Teaching Achievement Grand Award. It consists of ten chapters, elaborating topics from the thoughts on philosophy and social sciences, the thoughts on China’s vocational education, to the Engineering Practice Innovation Project (EPIP). It covers the curriculum theory, specialty theory, educational theory, teacher training, extended application, and effectiveness of EPIP . Finally, it concludes with “Transforming Our Learning”, deconstructing and interpreting EPIP, decoding and analyzing EPIP, in order to present EPIP vividly to the readers.
    
    The theme of this book has been included in the “Major Project List for Chinese Culture Going Global”. This book is one of the achievements of Luban Workshop International Development Research Center of Tianjin University Think Tank. It can serve as a reference for experts and scholars in vocational education and colleagues in vocational schools, and can also be used for people-to-people exchanges between China and other countries, as well as for sharing in international educational cooperation.
  • The Engineering Practice Innovation Project (EPIP) is a teaching model, suitable for cultivating innovative, compound, applied, technical and skilled talent. It is the core essence of the Luban Workshop. In 2014, the practical application achievements of EPIP was awarded the first grand prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award in China’s vocational education. In 2022, the innovative practical achievements of the establishment of the EPIP teaching model and the creation of the Luban Workshop brand was awarded the grand prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award.
    
    This book is written based on the theoretical research and practical application of the grand prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award by the founder of EPIP to help readers better understand and apply EPIP. It deconstructs, explains, decomposes and elaborates on EPIP, aiming to present a vivid, authentic, and complete inter pretation of EPIP to readers.
    
    The author begins with the questions on philosophy and social sciences, explores the development path of China’s philosophy and social sciences,elaborates on the principles of inheritance,nationality, subjectivity, originality, systematicnessand professionalism. Starting from the questionson vocational education, this book discusses the development path of the modern vocational education in China, and thoroughly elaborate the principles of Fujian Shipbuilding Academy, life education, and industry-education cooperation.Based on this, the exploration and creation process of “Engineering Practice Innovation Project (EPIP)” is elaborated in detail, and the thought path, theoretical foundation, core essence, system construction, application fields, typical cases,application effectiveness, and policy guidance of EPIP are profoundly explained in simple terms.
    
    This book explains the essence and significance of EPIP from the dimensions of Five Levels, Four Elements,Three Realms, Two Cores, and One Aim. It interprets the functional value of EPIP from the angles of curriculum reform application (EPIP curriculum theory), specialty development application (EPIP specialty theory), institutional operation application (EPIP educational theory), to the EPIP “cosmic level” application, and further to the EPIP “nano level” application. From teacher training,competition design, equipment development, resource development, the Luban Workshop, to the “Five-Pronged Integration” mechanism, supplyside structural reform, and then to the First World Vocational and Technical Education Development Conference, it showcases the influence of EPIP.
    
    The whole book presents the panoramic and three-dimensional “name-reality coupling” realm of EPIP.
